A 3 year + 3 year agreement was signed and payment was demanded for the full 6 years. It was agreed the second 3 year period could not be guaranteed and if there were problems then money for the second period would be returned. But there were no problems and the second 3 year period was confirmed. 20 monthly rental payments were paid and accepted by the owners as the second 3 year period continued. They repeated many times that the leaseholders could continue and expressed their gratitude they had such good, easy, hardworking people running the restaurant. |
Investment to improve the rundown business continued. When the leaseholders were forced out they took away nearly 400,000 baht of investments they had made. No offer was made to buy anything. Not even cheese for pizzas. Certainly not unwanted 'modern' kitchen equipment such as microwaves. |
The leaseholders were to be punished for not accepting an offer to leave early which was NOTHING. Just a return of 100,000 baht for the period of the lease that was not used! They rejected this and this angered the management. |
The leaseholders had asked for sensible compensation for leaving the business they had developed so successfully 14 months early, but it became evident that all the owners wanted was to take back a business which was now running well and making a good profit. Any suggestions to reach a fair and friendly agreement were rejected. The leaseholders income became zero after June 15th while their customers continued to visit the restaurant they had given their hearts to. |
By forcing out the leaseholders the Jolly Roger management should make an amount close to 1 million baht.... if they are able to run it as well as the leaseholders. |
There was no need for this. Why did they do it? Oh, you know already! |
Why can't Jolly Frog be an example. Thailand should not remain a 3rd World country to benefit the already rich. | Good business can be done ethically. Support honest business. |
